Contando porotos

How we distribute 360 content in broadcast TV
How we made a digital project (360 experiences) viable for regular broadcast TV. We traveled around the world (Dubai, Las Vegas, South Africa, Chile, Canada) to make Brazilian audience have the opportunity to feel the experience of all those cultures in a wide set of adventures. The difficulties of a digital project in a regular tv show and the possibility to mix digital and linear content. Fant360 had great audience ratings and was one of the biggest 360 projects in a LatAm broadcast company.

Building bots on newsrooms
In the BuzzFeed Open Lab for Journalism, Technology, in the Arts, we built a lot of bots, and learned a little bit from each one. I'll talk about what we learned from the bots we built at the Lab and how you can use the tools we created. I'll say a little bit about what we're building at Factful, too, but I will focus on things we built in the lab that you can copy or expand on.

Visual Mis- and Disinformation
My presentation focuses on why we all need to pay more attention to the role of images when it comes to mis- and disinformation. My talk draws on new research from a collaborative project with First Draft on the role of mis- and disinformation images in the 2017 UK and French elections. I will highlight lessons learned about what journalists could look out for in terms of potentially problematic images (especially during elections) and will suggest ways forward for training as well.

Membership design principles & manifesto writing
Many news organizations have mission and values statements. But what about incorporating members and the needs of the communities we serve? Together with New York University's Membership Puzzle Project (a think tank that studies how news can be more trustworthy), let's draft manifestos for and with supporter input about their side of the social contract. This will be a roll-up-your-sleeves session to start ensuring that members' voices are more fully considered in organizational decision-making.

PressPass: Solving journalism's plumbing problem
What's holding back journalism innovation? The kind of innovation that leads to a thriving ecosystem that can support quality journalism at the local, regional and national level. It's not the lack of tools, technology or good ideas. There are plenty of those. What's missing is the plumbing--an infrastructure layer that links those tools, technologies and good ideas to journalists who desperately need them. I'll talk about how PressPass might solve this problem, and how you can get involved.
