The Intercept Brasil launched in 2016 as political and economic crises gripped the nation. Our goal was to prove that a more aggressive, critical and independent kind of investigative journalism could flourish in a media ecosystem in which elitism, self-censorship and political interference are the norm. Our reporting has triggered official investigations, actions by the Public Ministry and popular mobilizations, but our mission is to help create new models and voices in Brazilian journalism.
